Supply Content

by Alexander Nofftz last modified 2007-07-18 19:28

All members can participate in this portal. You you want to supply content, just use this instructions.

This translation is only a draft. Feel free to contact me if you can help improving it!

In the new PROC Community Portal every member is requested to supply content. You have news of your club or project? A con report or even photos of it? Maybe also a event that others don't miss? Just supply your content and share it with other members!

Create Content

Due to security reasons new content can only be created in your own folder und have to be reviewed by a moderator. We hope that this is understandable since we have to protect this portal against unwanted content.

To create some content just do this:

  1. If not already done, join PROC Community.
  2. After logged in, just follow the link My Folder (found on the top-right below the search field in the standard skin).
  3. You have now entered a realm of your own in this portal. Here you can (allmost) doing everything you like. A new content can be created by clicking Add item (contained in the bright green bar) and choosing the matching type:
    • News for news of every type.
    • Page for text contant of every type, e.g. a con report.
    • Event for events like cons or regulars' tables.
    • Link for hyperlinks, e.g. to your home page or some other interesting project.
    • Folder for better arranging of your content.
    • Image for photos of cons or self-created images, but the latter should be better placed into the PROC Gallery.
    • File for any other content; try to avoid this one.
    • The remaining types should be not interesting at the moment.
  4. Take care of placing a good summary into the field Description, because this is the text displayed on the front page.

Submitting Content

If you're thinking your created content is interesting enough to be official published, then you can submit it for review by a moderator. In order to do this, you have to click on the triangle right of State: Private in the light green bar (standard skin) and choose Submit as new state. One of the moderators will now review your text, maybe edit it and move it into the official part of the PROC Community Portal. After this is done, your article will be published and visible for all other people.

Modifying Published Content

After being official published, your content is no more editable. If you have to edit it, e.g. a con date has been altered, you have to retract and newly submit it. Click on the triangle right of State: Published and choose Retract as new state. Your article will now be removed from the official lists and editable by you. After modifying the content you can re-submit it (see above).

Of cause you can only edit content of your own.

Translating Articles

You you want to translate a published article into a other language—just do it!

Choose in the menu bar in Translate into the desired language. After that a two-column view of the article will be displayed. On the left site you will get the primary language of the article (mostly German), on the right site empty fields for your translation will be diplayed. You you don't speak German, just feel free to open a second browser window containing your right language in the background. The editing of the new translation will be exactly the same as written about "Create Content" above. After being satisfied you can submit your translation (see above).

Become A Moderator

If you are submitting content very often or want to become a moderator just by other causes, feel free to contact somebody of the PROC Team.
